HUM

Today we had a class discussion about different pieces of Aztec society, and how the Aztecs believe in a group mentality over an individual. After making notes on the board, you were asked to respond to the overarching question relating to group vs individual mentality and how was this reflected throughout Aztec society.

Here are the notes:

Awesome job on your responses today.....you are all good Aztec citizens! Get ready to start poetry tomorrow......

Math

We will have a Math assessment on Thursday.  It will be a unit final (open notebook...please pep up your Math journals so you have all of your notes/foldables etc).

At this point, you should be able to graph:

y = 5x + 2

y = -3x - 4

y = 2x

Create a table of values for x, y values for:

y = 2x + 1

y = 4x

Describe what the graph looks like for:

y = -10x + 2

Math

You have a Pythagorus Unit exam on Monday next week. This week we will be reviewing and completing word problems.

Please make sure you are comfortable with the concepts, procedures, and estimation behind perfect squares and square rooting.

Humanities

Today we went through what a strong thesis statement looks like. You were given four examples of strong and weak thesis statements, and we identified together why each was strong and why the others were weak.

This was important as we need to write a thesis before even beginning to plan our essay.

Tomorrow we will continue writing our statements and then will work on brainstorming ideas from the movie and/or other literature.

If you were away, check-in with Ms. Noullett or Ms. deVuyst so that you can get caught up on strong thesis statements.

Humanities

ELA:

Today we finished going through the questions you created from the movie we watched. We gave check-marks to the questions that were in-depth, and struck out ones that were more yes/no and didn't allow for as much detail and thought. Here is a picture of the questions:

Tomorrow we will be choosing a question and going over how to create a proper thesis statement. This is the first step in the essay process.

Social:

We had a discussion about Desire and Means to explore and watched a video that gave an overview of Chapter 6. We then created two columns in our journals that described the Indigenous and Explorer point of view of events that occurred during the beginning stages of the Age of Exploration.

Tomorrow you will have an open book test, with a partner, on Chapters 5 and 6. This is a source based test, so please make sure you have completed the Chapter 5 booklet, as well as the journal work from today.

Good Luck!
